DevFlare Core
July 2015

DevFlare Core is a modular, web application framework and control panel with all the boring bits already done for you. Spend less time on the annoying, fiddly bits and more time being awesome instead. That’s why we made DevFlare Core.

It's awesome. Seriously.

I know what it's like. You've got a great idea for a web application. It could be the next big thing, or simply an itch that needs scratching, but you keep putting it off because you need to get all of the boring base-work all set up first. That same kind of stuff you need to add to any web app, like:

  • admin control panel;
  • new user registrations and sign-in forms;
  • user management and "forgot your password" system;
  • user preferences, groups and access permissions;
  • digital asset management for file uploads;
  • image manipulation (cropping and resizing);
  • a modular MVC framework; and
  • a powerful theming/templating language.

That's where DevFlare comes in. DevFlare helps you to build your revolutionary web app ideas in a fraction of the time as building everything from scratch, so you can get your prototype online by this afternoon, instead of next month.

This is an older video, but you get the idea.

Under the hood

If you’re interested, it runs on PHP + MYSQL, and sits on top of the fantastic, critically acclaimed CodeIgniter framework. It takes CodeIgniter to the next level, providing a rich set of tools and a modular architecture just waiting for you to plug in your ideas. You can even use your existing CodeIgniter code, with very few changes. It also uses the mighty Dwoo templating language to make displaying your content and data as easy as pie!

Oh yeah, did we mention it’ll be open source too? The licensing isn't fully worked out yet, but we're aiming for it to be as flexible as CodeIgniter's license (MIT).

Sounds awesome. I'm sold!

Hold up there, pardner. We’re still putting on the finishing touches, and we understand the value of launching with great documentation and examples. Unfortunately this stuff takes time to put together, but as we get close to having something released, be sure to check back for updates. In the meantime, feel free to get in touch if you want to know more.
